My good friend Kenice gave me a great idea about 6 years ago. Celebrate the day of love at home with the ones you love.
The first time we tried it, it was a HUGE hit with everybody. I made everyone their own Cornish game hen. We also dined by candle light. Jeff decided to get the girls their very own rose. I usually get roses or tulips.
It's evolved every year to include something new. The girls decorate the dinning room, we give each other cards, and this year I wanted to eat something other than little chickens. The girls of course weren't interested in diverting from the usual, but Jeff and I were. So, the girls had little turkeys {Lindsay's term} and Jeff and I had blue cheese topped rib eye and lobster tail. It was a splurge, but sooooo worth it! Dessert is always of a chocolate persuasion. We had lava cakes with ice cream. I know that you might be thinking about how our diets survived. Well, we decided to not count points on holidays. We are right back on and doing fine, but the deviation was very enjoyable. I have lost almost 20 pounds and Jeff's lost 15 so far, yay!
Here are some pictures of our night. Picture soft classical music playing in the background, that's usually the music of choice for the night.
We had entertainment during dessert. I think I will post that tomorrow. I hope you guys had a good Valentines day. I would love to hear your traditions.
