I just tried to post this on facebook, but it ran into character limits. (This is Jeff by the way, not Heidi.)
Warning! This is a longer update than usual. I just had the best meal I've had in a very long time. To say that Heidi took it up a notch doesn't quite describe what happened. She mercilessly threw the dial past 11! She worked for 4 hours on a pasta bolognese. You could taste every minute of love that went into that sauce. This doesn't even count for the prep time of shopping for some very specific ingredients.
There are not many dishes that I love enough to willingly hurt myself by overeating, but this one makes the short list. The only thing that kept me from that end was the chocolate cake that she decided to try to make from scratch for the first time. I don't know if you know this about her, but baking is her thing. Some legends used oils, marble, or watercolors. Heidi uses flour, sugar, eggs, and an oven set at 350. This was her attempt at this type of scratch cake. You'd think the Food Network had her on retainer. I'm supposed to bring some of this cake to the Tri-Cities with me tonight to share with others. I'm not entirely sure that it will make it there. Ritzville might be a good stopping point where I can find a fork.
Heidi, Excellent job!!
Love your Fat and Happy Best Friend.

Thanks honey. :) Glad you liked it so much...you do need to share though.
Wow! Impressive!
Please share the recipe and pictures if you have them. Sounds like you need to do a food blog!
Heidi, Thanks for the sweet comments on my blog.♥ All of the positive comments have helped McKenzie realize SHE isn't the problem.
Now, I wish this post came with pictures and recipes! Sounds like the dinner was a hit. A yummy Sunday dinner is the best-only made better by chocolate cake.
What a sweet post. I love that you two are best friends still :)
Umm, about that cake to share. I can't help but notice that I have seen neither you or any of the cake JEFF! I will be waiting.
I realize that the longer I wait the more chance there is that the cake will be eaten by the WRONG person. So here is a quick SHAME ON YOU just in case.
I got some cake!!! Lucky, lucky me!!!! And I ate every last bit....and it was OH SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!
Heidi, you have a gift...
what a sweet post. I am totally in awe of people who can put together a meal, make it look and taste good as well. (not one of my talents at all). I do just enough to get out the door so I can play with the paint ,wood ect...
(I have been lurking here for awhile).
Love you,
Karla Jones
OH MY GOODNESS! i am totally stoked to hear an update from you two!!! i have been missing you terribly & heidi you have so been on my mind today. i'm feeling very blessed to hear from you twice! =)
as for the food report, note that i am EXTREMELY jealous!!!!!!!
on the Dr side of things, no to my knowledge i wasn't misdiagnosed. she completely rubs me the wrong way. doesn't listen to me about my body. when i ask for a routine female RX to be called in to the pharmacy, she demands she needs to see me (which is crap since i KNOW what's wrong with me, and i've had normally yearlies on record, even with her office). was that all tmi? sorry if so. but the point is, i'm fed up. feels like she's more after my $20 copay for each visit than she actually cares about me. her office is part of the kadlec medical management mess. i'm tired of hospital groups limiting doctors from actually being doctors. to the one we found that we adore is not attached to ANY of the hospitals. so much less pressure on him to tow anybody else's line. makes it easier to care for his patients.
we love it!
p.s.
when are we feeding your husband for ya? and when is our encore FHE?
