This summer, Miss Abbey was on the Cheney swim team. She went everyday bright and early in the morning. She loved it and it got her into good shape. Jeff was the one that would take her every morning, with the exception of a few times.
Lindsay even had her first swimming lessons this year. I never put the girls in when they were younger. I just assumed they would have the tenacity to teach themselves the way I did when I was younger. Well, Lindsay just wouldn't do it. She's been like that with quite a few things in her little life. So, Lindsay had swimming lessons with children with the average age of 5. She didn't minds though. I think it's just about impossible to embarrass that kid. At the end of the lessons, Lindsay was able to take the swim test for diving board privileges. Very proud of her. Let's hope she doesn't have to start all over again next summer.
I was only able to get pictures of Abbey on the last day of swim team. When we move I really hope I can find something similar to put her into. I will definitely be prepared for the damage the chlorine does to her hair. Special shampoo won't cut it, the kids going to wear a swim cap.

Way to go Abbey!!
I'd never thought about it before, but I think you are absolutely right about Lindsay. She is just her own little person and I'm pretty sure that the thought of what other people may think of her has never entered her mind.
I hope that Abbey can keep up with her swimming. I know that for years Doris had little David on a swim team called the Channel Cats at Tri-City Court club. It might be a little pricey though, we'll have to see.
Wow...I am impressed. I only lasted one week on the swim team. It is hard work! I am sure that sweet girl will find just the right place to join.
I just had to come back to get another look at the picture of Abbey at the edge of the pool wearing her goggles. I just absolutely LOVE that kid!
Oh I'm also here to click on a few of your ads. One of them I actually found quite interesting.
I love swim team, it is so good for the kids and your right whips them right into shape!
I think that it is wonderful that she was on the swim team. Swimming is such great exercise. I only wish that my father (being a champion swimmer back in the day) had thought to teach us kids the finer ways of swimming. But by the time we came aroud he was pretty much over it. SO now special swimming instruction from the pro.
As for local swim teams....I know that there are programs locally, so Abbey should find a team to join without too much trouble.
Totally sounds like the programs at the Fircrest pool! You guys should totally move HERE! :)
Swimming is such a fun sport for kids. Great exercise that doesn't feel like exercise. Maybe I should going swimming more often. ;D
